Bio
Nicolas Masson
Born and raised in Geneva, Switzerland, Nicolas Masson developed an early interest for music. When he was about eight years old, his mother got him a guitar and he started dreaming of becoming a hard rock guitar hero…
In his teens, Nicolas cut his long hair, sold his guitar and fell in love with the saxophone.
Way into Albert Ayler, John Coltrane’s later bands and oddly at the same time into Louis Armstrong and Sidney Bechet, Nicolas makes his first steps in improvisation and plays in jazz ensembles at AMR, a very active musician’s association and jazz club in Geneva.
His other passions for photography and foreign cultures took him on a six months solo trip to Asia at age 19. This trip ended in New York City, where he finally decided to dedicate his life to music.
Nicolas has since been fortunate enough to live his passion for music, playing with some of his musical heroes and he keeps trying to work his way between both the Old and New World.
